When the leaves start to change, I want nothing more than a cozy sweater, hot coffee, and good books. I live in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, so I usually have to forgo the cozy sweater until after Christmas.
But you will find me at least sitting on the front porch with some lukewarm coffee. I’ve had my eye on the upcoming fiction books for Fall 2026.

14 Must-Read New Christian Fiction Books for Fall
I’m a bit of a random reader. Sometimes, I want a good western. Other times, I need romantic suspense, Regency romance, or WWII women’s fiction.
Whatever kind of reader you are, you’re going to find something on this list!

Fatal Pattern by Kate Angelo
I’m especially excited for Fatal Pattern because I absolutely loved the first book in this series, Girl Gone! Behavioral analyst Dr. Tori Crew is forced into a covert investigation after a stalker attacks her at knifepoint. Homicide detective Blade St. James joins her search. Tori begins uncovering a deadly conspiracy connected to her parents’ unsolved murder.
This gripping romantic suspense promises a chilling serial killer investigation, a heart-pounding cold case, and a slow-burn friends-to-lovers romance.

Dressed for Success…Turned Out for Murder
This is the third book in a cozy mystery series I’ve loved so far! Set in 1957, the story follows Mary Jo Johnson. After a trying time in her life, she is looking forward to returning to life as a full-time homemaker. But then, her husband is accused of murdering the boss whose hardware store he planned to purchase.
Mary Jo must join forces with her friends from Wynton’s Department Store to uncover the truth. With its mid-century setting, close-knit friendships, and intriguing murder mystery, this sounds like another delightful addition to the series.

Throne of the Heavens by Connilyn Cossette
I’ve been counting down the months for Throne of the Heavens! This is the newest book in my favorite biblical fiction series ever. I can’t wait to return to Connilyn Cossette’s richly imagined world.
Set during the years of King Saul’s reign, it follows Mattaniel, a captive with only fragments of his former life. He encounters Elissa, a king’s daughter expected to secure her father’s ambitions through marriage. The two are drawn into a dangerous conspiracy. Their growing bond could set in motion events that change the destiny of nations.

The Undercover Bookshop by Katherine Reay
Katherine Reay is one of my favorite authors, so I’m very excited for The Undercover Bookshop! Set in a charming Cotswold village in 1950, the story follows Gemma Brown. She an avid mystery reader who dreams of opening the village’s first bookstore.
When she begins to suspect that the town’s best baker may be a Soviet spy, Gemma finds herself caught in a real-life mystery involving MI5, the KGB, and a dangerous international conspiracy. A bookshop, an English village, and Cold War intrigue—this sounds like such a fun combination!

The Dogwood Gospel by Cindy Morgan
Cindy Morgan is a new author for me, but The Dogwood Gospel sounds fascinating! Set in 1954, it follows sixteen-year-old Charlie. She runs away from her strict Kentucky home after learning that her parents lied to her about her past.
Disguised as a boy, she joins a traveling carnival and becomes a daring trick rider. She finds an unexpected family among its performers. But when the investigation into Charlie’s disappearance becomes connected to three missing girls and a thirteen-year-old murder, the secrets she fled may finally catch up with her.

Falling Into Us by Denise Hunter
Denise Hunter is my go-to author for heartwarming, cozy, clean romance, and Falling Into Us is another lovely read! After her mother’s death, jewelry designer Gabby Donaldson travels to Gibson, North Carolina. Her only goal is to deliver a letter to the grandmother she never knew.
Single dad and journalist Mason Morrison offers to help find her in exchange for sharing Gabby’s story. Their simple arrangement soon becomes something more. Gabby grows closer to Mason and his twelve-year-old daughter, and she must make a decision. Will she return to the carefully planned life she left behind? Or take a chance on the family and home she never expected to find?

A Marriage by the Sea by Jody Hedlund
Set on a picturesque island off the coast of Maine, this book sounds like such a sweet historical romance! Marissa Axton has worked hard to prove she can manage her family’s farm and blueberry business. But her father refuses to give her the deed unless she marries.
Her childhood best friend, Felix Larock, offers the perfect solution: a marriage of convenience. But their friendship has always been forbidden by their feuding families. When very real feelings and long-buried secrets surface, their future together may be at risk.

Pride and Practicality by Pepper Basham
I love Pepper Basham’s Regency rom-coms, so Pride and Practicality immediately caught my attention! One terrible mistake leaves Arianna Reeves disgraced by society and estranged from her family. She returns home determined to make amends and do something meaningful with her life.
There she repeatedly crosses paths with Thomas Bridges, a principled clergyman who shares her compassion for others—and her tendency to challenge society’s expectations. Their unlikely friendship deepens into something more. They must decide whether protecting their reputations is worth sacrificing the life and love they could build together.

She Will End This by Colleen Coble and Rick Acker
I’ve already read She Will End This, and it was easily a five-star read for me! True crime writer Britt Olsen’s life is turned upside down when a DNA test reveals that her biological father is a disgraced Mossad assassin.
After the president’s five-year-old granddaughter is kidnapped, Britt joins forces with FBI agent Stein Nordahl. He has spent years hunting the man responsible for his own father’s death. This book has multiple intelligence agencies, shocking betrayals, plenty of faith, and twists I never saw coming. It was a story kept me hooked from the first chapter. At one point, I was so stunned that I actually shut the book and stared at it!

When We Blinked by Stephanie Mack
I’m so excited for When We Blinked because I loved Stephanie Mack’s last book, Twenty Somthing Else! Newly divorced Seraphina Jones is adjusting to life as a working single mom. Her friends convince her to try Blinde, a photo-free dating app designed to create meaningful connections.
What she doesn’t realize is that the intriguing man she’s matched with is actually her ex-husband, Connor. He hopes their conversations might give them a chance to connect all over again. With its second-chance romance, mistaken identity, and themes of forgiveness and redemption, this sounds like such a heartfelt read!

The Home Front Sisters by Amy Lynn Green
Inspired by Little Women and set during World War II, The Home Front Sisters follows two sisters whose dreams take unexpected turns. Joan joins Philadelphia’s streetcar workforce after facing disappointment in both writing and love.
Amelia enlists in the WAVES and travels to Florida to train Navy gunners. As they serve their country in very different ways, both sisters must navigate questions of purpose, duty, and romance. I love a good WWII novel, and I’m a huge fan of Little Women. The added themes of sisterhood and female friendship make this one sound especially compelling!

The Palace Spy by Tessa Afshar
The Palace Spy is the newest book in another of my favorite biblical fiction series! Horse trainer Danna saves Queen Esther from a runaway mare. Then she discovers the incident may have been a deliberate attempt on the queen’s life.
Esther hires Danna to uncover the person responsible and calls upon Allon. He’s a former servant of the queen who would rather leave palace intrigue—and his painful past—behind. As they work together to protect Esther, they find themselves caught in a dangerous mystery. Their growing feelings may be just as difficult to navigate.

The Widow of Woodlark Cottage by Julie Klassan
The Widow of Woodlark Cottage sounds like the perfect blend of Regency romance and Gothic mystery! After learning that her estranged father has died, young widow Elizabeth Eaton travels to the North Devonshire coast. She plans to collect his belongings and unfinished manuscript.
She decides to remain at his cottage long enough to complete his final book. Flickering lights in an allegedly empty manor and a series of frightening incidents leave her questioning whom she can trust. With a mysterious estate, two intriguing men, family regrets, and the possibility of a second chance at love, this story sounds captivating!

Mail-Order Lady by Misty M. Beller
Mail-Order Lady puts a fun twist on the mail-order bride story! Clara McKinney travels west to marry a stranger, only to watch her sister marry the intended groom instead. Desperate to escape an arranged marriage back home, she accepts a marriage of convenience with the groom’s quiet, bookish brother, Robert. But Robert is determined to win his new wife’s heart.
When a stranger arrives claiming to be the rightful Balfour heir, their new marriage is swept into a dangerous conflict filled with family secrets, divided loyalties, and unexpected love.
