September 2026 Scripture Writing Plan: Faith Over Fear
In this post: Download this free Scripture writing plan–faith over fear. Write 30 verses about trusting God, choosing faith, and living courageously.
Life gives us many reasons to be fearful. Our world is a pretty scary place, and life is full of uncertainties and unknowns.
It’s easy to say, “I choose faith over fear.” But those words are hard to live out!
Having children especially reminds us that so much in life is out of our control. Many times I’ve fallen down the “fear” rabbit hole of all the bad things that can happen.
And it’s true. Bad things can and do happen. But God tells us specifically that fear does not come from Him.

In 2 Timothy 1:7, Paul tells us, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
We may experience fear, but we don’t have to live under its control. We can bring those fears to God and choose to trust Him instead.
Peace is God’s gift to us, His precious daughters. Fear doesn’t control us when we rest in Him.

Choosing Faith Over Fear
Faith over fear is a slogan that looks cute on a bumper sticker or a t-shirt. But what does it mean to live it out in our daily lives?
First, it’s important to acknowledge that fear is a very real thing. The Bible talks about it over and over again. Some very brave people in the Bible experience great fear, including Joshua and Gideon.
But just like those men (who both have amazing stories of courage recorded in the Old Testament!), we can overcome our fears through faith.
Having faith over fear doesn’t mean walking blindly through life, ignoring danger, and trusting that everything will be okay.
Instead, it means that we trust God with the outcome of every situation. Our Heavenly Father sees what we cannot see, and we can trust Him even when we don’t understand what He is doing.
Fear can keep us frozen, convincing us that the safest thing to do is nothing at all. But throughout Scripture, we see ordinary people move forward in obedience even when the circumstances were frightening.
Joshua and the children of Israel stood outside the walls of Jericho, an impenetrable fortress with walls thick enough to hold houses. Gideon faced an enormous Midianite army with his little band of three hundred men.
To the human mind, they were impossible situations. But God’s will was stronger than their fear. They chose not to depend on themselves, but to lean on God.
You and I can do the same! Most of us aren’t standing outside a fortified city or staring down an enemy army. But that doesn’t mean the things God asks us to do never feel frightening.
Motherhood alone gives us plenty of opportunities to worry about things we can’t control. We face uncertain futures, difficult decisions, circumstances we can’t fix, and situations where we simply don’t know what will happen next.
Like Joshua and Gideon, we can learn to depend on God and trust His strength instead of giving ourselves over to fear.
Faith Over Fear Scripture Writing Plan
We don’t overcome fear by simply telling ourselves to stop being afraid. We overcome it by continually turning our attention back to the One we can trust.
That’s why I chose Faith Over Fear as our Scripture writing theme for September. For the next 30 days, we’ll fill our hearts and minds with God’s promises and remind ourselves where our confidence truly belongs.
One of my favorite Bible verses about fear is our theme verse for this month’s Scripture writing plan.
What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.
Psalm 56:3
This verse recognizes fear. It’s a real thing. But trust in God brings peace in the middle of our fear.
This month’s Bible verses help us to trust God in faith, even when our hearts are filled with fear.
This month’s plan is broken down into four categories:
- Week One: When Fear Creeps In
- Week Two: Trusting God
- Week Three: Choosing Faith
- Week Four: Courage to Move Forward
We’ll walk through these verses together, learning what it means to walk in faith as moms and Christian women.
