What Exactly is Scripture Writing?
Scripture writing is a Bible study technique that involves physically writing out Bible passages by hand. This practice encourages you to slow down, focus on the words, and meditate on the message of the scriptures.
Research has shown that handwriting can help improve memory retention and deepen understanding, making Scripture writing a powerful tool for internalizing the Word of God.
When you take time to write Bible verses, you’ll be surprised how much of them you’ll memorize! God tells us to hide His Word in our hearts. When we do, the Holy Spirit can bring the verses we need when we need them.
When you’re facing hard times, or don’t know what to do, you might find yourself recalling Bible verses you never realized you knew!

Supplies to Enhance Your Scripture Writing
Want to turn Scripture writing into a creative and meaningful experience? Here are a few things that can make it extra special:
Scripture writing journal or prayer journal – Keep all your verses in one place.
Pretty pens – Make writing more enjoyable with smooth, colorful pens. (these are my current fave!)
Highlighters – Emphasize keywords and phrases to reflect on later. (I love this brand, because they don’t bleed.)
Bible study stickers – Decorate your pages and add visual reminders of God’s promises.
Of course, you can keep it simple with just a notebook and a pen! The goal is not to make it perfect—it’s to spend time with God’s Word.
