My first experience with homeschooling came when my oldest was in preschool. We planned to put him in a Christian school for kindergarten, but the drive was too far for half a day of preschool.

I worried that he would fall behind his peers, so we decided to do a program at home. It was a fun and rewarding experience for us!

We learned all the letters of the alphabet, sang songs, learned Bible verses, colored, and made simple crafts. Not only did he flourish with the easy alphabet resources, he also learned important skills like sitting still for longer periods and paying attention to instructions.

What Should My Child Learn in Preschool?

I take a pretty relaxed approach to preschool. I think it should be more fun than work.

Kids are required by law to go to school for at least 13 years. So, starting them a year earlier than necessary isn’t always the best option. However, some kids really want to learn!

Doing a letter-of-the-week curriculum helps kids learn the basics of the alphabet in a way that’s still fun and engaging. This alphabet curriculum is laid-back and easy to use.

Since it’s mostly games, your kids may not even realize they’re learning valuable skills like using scissors, pencil control, and letter recognition.

As a mom, don’t feel stressed about your kids learning a lot in preschool. If they start kindergarten not knowing any letters or numbers, that’s fine, too! Encourage your kids to learn more through fun and play than workbooks or activities.

If your kiddo is ready for a bit of a challenge (or if you’re looking for something to keep little occupied while older kids do schoolwork!) my letter of the week curriculum is the perfect choice for you!

Letter A Printable Worksheets

When your young learners are ready to start learning about the alphabet, these printable letter “A” worksheets will give you the perfect place to start. They’re a great way to give your kids a solid foundation with letter writing, as well as a fun way to develop fine motor skills and muscle memory.

How to Write Letter A

The first worksheet in this workbook helps kids to recognize the letter A, as well as shows them how to write it. Direction arrows teach the proper way to form the letter. Kids in preschool and early kindergarten may not be ready to draw letters yet, so tracing letters of the alphabet is a great place for them to start.

These sheets allow them to follow the arrows and draw the lines with their fingers. This helps to build muscle memory as well as teach them the stroke order needed to make the letter correctly.

There is also a sheet that features the letter “A” made with dotted lines. If you laminate these sheets, kids can use these fat markers to draw the letters over and over again. This letter activity is great if your kiddo needs extra practice with proper letter formation.

You might notice that there are no pages where children actually write letters. You may choose to allow your kindergarten students to practice on special kindergarten paper. However, preschool-age children may not be ready to make letters on their own yet. Tracing the letters is just fine for now!

Altogether, these alphabet worksheets contain six or more opportunities for kids to trace letters. But they’re all different, so your kids won’t get bored.

Plus, you have enough activities to do something new each day.

letter a beginning sounds worksheets

Beginning Sounds Worksheets

If you’re looking for creative ways to teach kids all about beginning sounds, these sheets give kids a variety of objects that begin with the letter a. Use the “Starts with A” sheet as a way to help kids recognize words that begin with the letter a–even if they don’t all sound the same. You can also print this page out twice, cut around the square, and turn it into a fun matching game.

Once kids have a good understanding of words that start with a, they can move on to the next activity. This page is a simple way for kids to demonstrate their understanding of letter sounds. Plus, it’s a fun hands-on coloring activity.

a is for adam coloring sheets

A is for Adam Coloring Sheets

This Bible activity pack for the letter A talks to kids about the first man God created–Adam! The pack features multiple opportunities for kids to learn about Adam, his important role in our world, and ultimately the sin that caused the fall of man.

Of course, it’s hard to feature Adam without Eve, so you’ll find both of them featured in the coloring sheets.

Some kids just learn better by doing. This blank letter page was made just for them. It’s made using blank outlines for both the uppercase letter and the lowercase letter so that kids can fill them in with fun objects.

Some ideas include macaroni noodles, pom poms, and cotton balls. If you don’t mind a little bit of mess, they can glue their objects in place. Or, print these alphabet pages on cardstock so kids can use them over and over.

attentive character trait coloring page

Letter A Character Trait Page

One fun part of this preschool Bible ABC curriculum is that each letter features a character trait for little learners. We want our kids to learn reading and math, but young children are also at the perfect age to learn and develop character.

For “A” the character focus is “attentive.” Toddlers and preschoolers are not great at paying attention. Using the included Bible verse, plus the coloring sheet, you can talk to your kiddo about the importance of being attentive. Whether it’s listening when someone else is talking, or paying attention to the things that go on around them. being attentive is an important character trait for kids to learn and know!

This page is a great way to open up new conversations with your kids about behaviors, attitudes, and actions.

The best part of using these Bible alphabet activities is that you can use them to teach your kids the Bible, too! If your kids are ready to write, they can trace the verse. If not, they can practice coloring the words, too.

The alphabet Bible verse coordinates with my free printable alphabet Bible verse cards!
