Recently, I went through a situation where it felt like my whole world collapsed. Literally, overnight everything changed.

I spent long days with a family member in the hospital, going through some pretty scary situations.

I learned quickly that life is uncontrollable. I no longer felt safe.

During those difficult days, I learned that God never leaves us in our hard times.

Life is sometimes tumultuous. But God is our safe space.

Scripture Writing Plan: God is My Refuge

This month, we plan to focus on God’s goodness to us when life is uncertain. Many of these verses come from the Psalms. These verses are especially powerful when we know that David often faced hard times in his life.

He stood before Goliath with a sling and a stone. After Samuel anointed David to be the new king, he ran from Saul for years. He committed adultery with Bathsheba, which brought about the death of his beloved child.

One of his sons killed another son and later tried to take the kingdom from David. Through it all, David wrote some of the most comforting verses in the Bible.

Here are some that we’ll be writing this month:

Psalm 9:9 — “The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.”
Psalm 18:2 — “The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust.”
Psalm 27:1 — “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”
Psalm 28:7 — “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped.”

All 31 Bible verses for this month will remind you that life is uncertain, but God will keep us safe in hard times.
