holly and nick hate christmas

Holly and Nick Hate Christmas by Betsy St. Amant

I adored this book. I read it during a 114-degree heat wave, and somehow it still wrapped me in cozy Christmas charm. It kept me laughing out loud constantly (my kids kept checking on me!), and Betsy’s writing made me feel every bit of Holly’s emotions—along with all the sparks between her and Nick.

With a fun blend of brother’s-best-friend, fake dating, and a touch of enemies-to-lovers, plus a surfer-turned-cowboy, mall jail, and an inflatable snowman, this story was funny, heartfelt, and impossible to put down. A delightful Christmas read you can enjoy any time of year.

my merry mistake

My Merry Mistake by Courtney Walsh

My Merry Mistake is a cozy, clean Christmas romance about a driven heroine who finally slows down—and the hockey-playing ray of sunshine who helps her remember what joy feels like.

Finn’s golden retriever charm, her fierce determination, and all the twinkly holiday moments make this opposites-attract story irresistible. Sweet, funny, and completely clean, it’s the perfect feel-good read to curl up with (and safe to share with your teenage daughters!).

This book is the third in a series, but it can stand alone.

mistletoe season

Mistletoe Season by Sheila Roberts, Kathleen Fuller, and Pepper Basham

If you’re in the mood for a book that feels like stepping straight into a Hallmark Christmas movie, Mistletoe Season is such a delight. This charming collection brings together three sweet stories—full of small-town charm, second chances, and just the right sprinkle of Christmas magic.

You’ll meet a romance writer who’s sworn off mistletoe forever (thanks to one humiliating high school kiss), a hometown girl whose heart wakes up when an old friend returns from overseas, and even a royal who’s learning what really matters far away from the palace. Each novella is warm, fun, and perfectly festive—exactly the kind of cozy escape to curl up with beside the tree.

under the mistletoe

Under the Mistletoe by Susan May Warren with Tari Faris

If you love Christmas stories wrapped in second chances and a whole lot of heart, this one is such a beautiful read. Devin, a social worker who pours everything she has into supporting foster families.

She’s fighting to save the program she loves—while quietly guarding the pieces of her own broken heart. Logan, the bestselling author hiding behind a pen name, is battling writer’s block and feelings he’s tried (and failed) to forget.

This story is tender, hopeful, and full of the kind of Christmas warmth that reminds us God can heal what feels impossible and build families in the most unexpected ways.

the christmas ring

The Christmas Ring by Karen Kingsbury

If you love heartfelt Christmas stories with a touch of mystery, The Christmas Ring is such a beautiful read. When military widow Vanessa goes searching for her family’s long-lost heirloom ring, she never expects to meet Ben—an antique dealer whose kindness slowly awakens her heart again.

Their gentle, hopeful romance grows alongside Vanessa’s preparations for her annual Christmas military dance, but everything shifts when Ben uncovers a heartbreaking truth about the ring’s past. As Christmas approaches, both are forced to navigate love, loss, and what truly matters. It’s a tender, faith-filled reminder that our real treasure is always found in the heart.

planes, reins and automobiles

Planes, Reins, and Automobiles by Kate Watson

The book I’m most excited to read in 2025 is this one, the next in a series I already adore. I absolutely loved Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend, so when I saw this follow-up was coming, it immediately jumped to the top of my list.

This story has everything I love in a Christmas romance—a grumpy/sunshine road trip, secret online soulmates, and two characters who challenge each other in all the best ways. Oliver just wants to make it home for his brother’s wedding, and Poppy is the last person he wants to share a tiny rental car with… except she’s also the anonymous online friend he opens his heart to.

I cannot wait to curl up with this one!

christmas with your

Christmas With You by Tari Faris

This is my favorite book in the Home to Heritage series so far. It’s a beautiful second-chance Christmas romance filled with flawed, believable characters who grow in grace. Cole might be my favorite hero yet, and Fallon is the perfect match for him.

The themes of redemption, trust, and new beginnings make this such a heartwarming read—not just for Christmas, but anytime you need a hopeful, faith-filled story. Put this one on your list!

christmas with a crank

Christmas With a Crank by Courtney Walsh

Liam Fisher’s family has owned the Pine Creek Christmas tree farm for generations. He doesn’t have any desire to take it over, but he’s still shocked when he finds out his parents are going to sell it.

They’ve enlisted Olive Witherby to help make the last season magical and special. Olive loves Christmas as much as Liam seems to hate it. She’s determined to make Liam love it, too. Will these two childhood crushes get a second chance at romance this Christmas season?

the christmas tree farm

The Christmas Tree Farm by Melody Carlson

Madison McDowell has returned to the states after teaching in Mongolia for years. She’s excited to take over her family’s Christmas tree farm and finally have a true home.

However, she’s surprised to find that the farm is in ruins and her sister isn’t interested in fixing it up. Not to mention, her childhood flame, Gavin, lives next door. He’s determined to turn his property into a noisy, dusty dirt bike park for his daughter.

Can Madison save the farm without losing her heart?

on a midnight clear

On a Midnight Clear by Tracie Peterson, Karen Witemeyer, and Misty M. Beller

If you’re looking for a faith-filled, heartwarming set of Christmas novellas, this collection is such a treat. Inspired by the Nativity story, these three tales—written by Tracie Peterson, Misty M. Beller, and Karen Witemeyer—are full of hope, gentle romance, and the kind of cozy storytelling that makes you want to curl up by the tree with a blanket and cocoa.

From a widowed rancher searching for a mother for his children, to a snowy mountain inn with no room to spare, to a long-distance romance blossoming into something real, each story reminds us that God meets us in the unexpected and writes the most beautiful chapters of our lives—especially at Christmas.

on the way to christmas

On the Way to Christmas: Three Stories by Melissa Ferguson, Sheila Roberts and Amy Ferguson

In this glittering and heartwarming collection of Christmas-themed novels, three of today’s best-selling sweet romance novelists offer up the gift of cheer for the winter holiday season.

Series includes:

  • A Christmas Do-Over by Sheila Roberts
  • Dashing Through the Snow by Melissa Ferguson
  • A Perfectly Splendid Christmas by Amy Cliptson

I enjoyed all of these books, but Dashing Through the Snow was my favorite. It’s charming and laugh-out-loud funny!

like a christmas inn

Port Willis Romance Collection by Lindsay Harrel

This is one of my favorite Christmas series to read each year! Unsuspecting couples find love in a tiny English town in each of the four novellas.

I love how each story introduces a new couple–even taking characters you didn’t like in a past book and making them lovable.

The novellas each standalone–but I bet you can’t read just one!

Books in the series include:

a cross country christmas

A Cross-Country Christmas by Courtney Walsh

I love Courtney Walsh’s novels, and this is one of my favorites! Lauren Richmond hates Christmas, and she usually skips it entirely.

But this year, her brother and his wife are about to have a baby, so he’s arranged for her to ride home with his friend, Will. Unfortunately, Lauren remembers Will–and wishes she could forget him, and the huge crush she’s always had.

Can she survive the cross-country trip without losing her heart all over again? And can Will prove to Lauren and himself that he’s changed?

Don’t miss Courtney’s other novellas:

all is calm, all is bright

All is Calm and All is Bright (Two Novellas) by Colleen Coble

If you like your holiday romance mixed with a little bit of mystery, this mini-series is the perfect for you this Christmas season!

In these novellas, we return to two of of Colleen’s best series’ settings–Bluebird Ranch and Hope Beach, for two brand new love stories.

In All is Calm, Special Ops Agent Brendan Waddell and murder witness Lauren Everman find love at the ranch just in time for Christmas.

Then in All is Bright, Delilah is helping Elin plan her dream wedding. But she’ll need the help of Sheriff Tom Bourne to make it happen–and she might find some romance of her own.

The Wish Book Christmas by Lynn Austin

The Wish Book Christmas by Lynn Austin

I haven’t gotten a chance to read this yet, but I already know I’m going to love it. It’s a sequel to Lynn’s book If I Were You, which is one of my favorite books I read in 2021. (Seriously, if you haven’t read it, drop everything and do it now.)

In their first Christmas in post-war America, Bobby and Harry are obsessed with the Sears wish book. To reign in their wishlists, their mothers decide to teach them the true meaning of the season.

What follows is a heartwarming story about healing and forgiveness, and maybe new love.

Baby, It's Cold Outside by Susan May Warren

Baby, It’s Cold Outside by Susan May Warren

Baby, It’s Cold Outside is one of my favorite Christmas novels! In fact, a couple of years ago, I read the whole thing on Christmas Day!

This book is about 5 people who get snowed in together just before Christmas. None of them are feeling the Christmas spirit, and each is wrestling with grief and secrets.

But the magic of Christmas, and one small child might be just what they need to find hope for the future. It promises to be a Christmas they’ll never forget.

Christmas at Whitefriars by Elizabeth Camden

Christmas at Whitefriars by Elizabeth Camden

In this historical romance, Mary Beckwith is so excited that her family has traveled from America to visit her in her remote castle home in England. She’s anxious to show them the upgrades she’s made to Whitefriars.

Everett Wooten has been sending money to Mary to keep the castle running for years. When he hears of her improvements and future plans, he’s livid. He makes a surprise visit to the castle just before Christmas to set things straight.

To say that Everett and Mary don’t see eye-to-eye is an understatement. They disagree over everything–especially the future of Whitefriars.

But Christmas is a magical time and a hidden recipe might be just the thing to bring them together.

This novella is a spin-off from Elizabeth’s Empire State Series. I have only read one of those books, and I didn’t find that I needed to read the others to enjoy this one.

My favorites from Elizabeth Camden:

Christmas at the Circus by Joanne Bischoff

Christmas at the Circus by Joanne Bischof

I’m not actually sure you can call this a book. It’s really short–the Kindle version is under 30 pages. I mention it here because I love the circus, and I adored this book.

It’s a sequel to Joanne’s book The Lady and the Lionheart. I admit that it took me a very long time to get into reading The Lady and the Lionheart. But others kept telling me how good it was, so I kept going.

It turned out to be just as good as they said, and I’m glad I kept it up. Christmas at the Circus tells the story of Charlie and Ella Lionheart’s first Christmas in the circus, and the magic and secrets it held. I highly recommend both of these books!

A Christmas by the Sea by Melody Carlson

A Christmas by the Sea by Melody Carlson

Wendy Harper is traveling to Seaside, Maine, to visit the cottage she inherited from her grandfather. Her plan is to fix the cottage up and flip it.

Her son, Jackson, has different ideas and is determined to move to Seaside for good. The longer Wendy stays in the quaint town, the more she wishes she could stay. And if it’s up to one charming local, she just might!

Don’t miss Melody’s other Christmas novels:

while it was snowing

While it Was Snowing by Tari Farris

While It Was Snowing is part of Tari’s Restoring Heritage series, but I think you can still enjoy it as a standalone. It’s a classic story of two best friends who secretly have feelings for one another.

All it takes to bring them together is being stuck together in a snowstorm!

A Royal Christmas Wedding by Rachel Hauck

A Royal Christmas Wedding by Rachel Hauck

Rachel’s Royal Wedding Series is one of my favorite series of all time. And A Royal Christmas Wedding is the best in that series. (Yes, it’s a matter of opinion!)

When Avery Truitt visits her sister, Queen Susannah in Brighton Kingdom, she meets her old flame Prince Colin. Will an old legend about a Christmas bell bring them together? Or will circumstances and unhappy family members stop their romance?

How to Read All the Best Christmas Book Every Year

If you’re anything like me and love to binge Christmas books all season long, Kindle Unlimited is my favorite way to do it. I can try new authors, borrow as many holiday stories as I want, and always have something festive waiting for me on my Kindle.

Many of the books on this list are available in the Kindle Unlimited program. It’s easy to start a new one…and another and another and another!

It’s the easiest (and most budget-friendly) way I’ve found to read my way through December, one cozy book at a time.
