When the leaves start to turn from green to red and gold each year, my heart begins to turn to gratitude. Something about the changing of seasons reminds me of all the things I have to thank God for.

Sometimes I don’t know how to express my thankful heart, so I turn to the Word of God for inspiration and encouragement.

Not only is the Bible full of Thanksgiving verses, it is full of reasons why we can and should give thanks to God.

How to Use These KJV Thanksgiving Bible Verses

A couple of years ago I went through a spiritual slump. I had let myself take my eyes off all God had done for me. Instead of looking at my blessings, I started to dwell on what other people had that I didn’t have.

Let me tell you, that’s a great way to get discouraged and down in the dumps really fast!

I started reading and writing gratitude and thanksgiving Bible verses every day. Slowly, over the next few months, my whole attitude changed.

The Word of God worked on me from the inside out, and I started to see the wonderful things God had done for me.

We love to practice gratitude on Thanksgiving Day, but there are ways to use these verses in your daily life, too.

Here are a few ways you can incorporate Bible verses about Thanksgiving into your home and family each day.

    Start Your Day with Gratitude

Every morning, pick a Thanksgiving Bible verse and reflect upon it as you start your day. For example, Psalm 9:1 says, “I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works.” This verse can serve as a wonderful reminder to wake up each day with a heart full of gratitude. You can journal about the things you’re thankful for, inspired by the verse you’ve chosen.

    Read Praise and Thanksgiving Scriptures

God’s Word is powerful and able to change us, but we have to read it first! Use the list of Bible verses in this post, and read one each day. It will only take a few minutes, or even less tor read the verse, but you don’t have to stop there.

Include your family by using these verses during family devotions or as part of your homeschool routine.

Since these verses and passages are pretty short, you can meditate on them throughout the day. Pray that God will help you grow your faith and gratitude through thanksgiving verses. Or, use one of the following methods to hold onto them a little longer.

Use Thanksgiving Bible Verses into Your Daily Prayers

Infuse your daily prayers with Thanksgiving Bible verses. This not only enriches your prayers, but also helps you internalize these messages of gratitude.

For example, you could use 1 Chronicles 16:34, “O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever,” as a prayer that you repeat throughout your day.

This constant reminder can help you maintain a thankful mindset even amidst challenges. You can even personalize Bible verses as you pray the Scriptures.

    Write Thanksgiving Verses

One of the most powerful ways to remember the things you read in the Bible is to write them. Something special happens when you put pen to paper and write words as you read.

You can download the free pdf in this post and challenge yourself to write one verse or passage each day for a month. You’ll be surprised at how God’s Word will change your heart.

    Memorize Thanksgiving Scriptures

The best part of these Thanksgiving Bible verses is that they are mostly short, so they’re pretty easy to memorize. Choose a few of them, and set a goal to memorize them. Making it a challenge for your family makes it even more fun.

Try reading them together at breakfast, and quiz each other during the day. You’ll be surprised at how fast kids can memorize verses!

Our family loves to chant them over and over until we have them memorized. Yes, it’s kind of weird, but it works!

    Share Gratitude Scriptures with Others

Sharing these verses with family, and friends, or even on your social media platforms can be a great way to spread positivity and gratitude. It could be as simple as sending a thoughtful text with a Thanksgiving Bible verse like Philippians 4:6, “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”

By doing this, you’re not only uplifting others with words of encouragement but also reminding yourself of the importance of gratitude in everyday life. You never know what someone else might be facing, and the encouragement you offer might improve their day.

What is a Good Bible Verse for Thanksgiving?

There are so many great thanksgiving verses in the King James version of the Bible. In fact, the book of Leviticus has very specific laws for how to offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving on the altar.

But when it comes to a verse to share with your family or to meditate on during the month of November, I love this one:

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 1 Thessalonians 5:18

This verse reminds us to always look for the good God has for us in every situation.

There are times in life when you can’t be thankful for everything. Life is hard sometimes. But the Bible tells us that God is always working things for our good, even when we can’t see it. (Romans 8:28)

So, we can always give thanks for God’s love because He is taking care of us in our hard times.

Another one of my favorite Bible verses for Thanksgiving comes from James 1:17: Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

I love how this verse reminds me that every beautiful and good thing in my life is a gift from God. He loves to give gifts to His children who He absolutely adores.

On Thanksgiving or any day of the year, take a few minutes to list some good things in your life and remember how much God loves you.

What is the KJV Psalm of Thanksgiving?

The words “thanksgiving,” “thanks” and “praise” are mentioned a combined 183 times in the book of Psalms! Even though David faced a lot of hardships in his life, he was serious about offering thanks and praise to God.

One of the most popular Psalms of thanksgiving is Psalm 100.

1 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.

2 Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

3 Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

5 For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

This beautiful passage is the perfect passage to share at Thanksgiving. Read it before the big meal, or share it as guests are listing things they are grateful for.

Psalm 100 also contains easy Thanksgiving Bible verses that kids can memorize.

These five short verses show us all the ways we can offer praise and thanksgiving to God for all the wonderful things He does for us.
