11 Inspiring Bible Verses for Fall That Celebrate the Harvest Season
These Bible verses for fall will inspire your heart and help you grow your faith during this beautiful season!
What is it about the fall season that makes us so introspective? There’s just something about the changing seasons, colorful leaves, and the chilly weather that causes us to pause and think. These Bible verses for fall help us to turn our thoughts to God’s faithfulness and steadfast love.
Fall is my favorite season. And not just because the weather where I live in South Carolina finally becomes tolerable again!
I’m always inspired and awed by the beauty of God’s creation. While I love the sparkling snow in winter, tiny green buds in spring and the glorious beauty of summer, I love fall most of all.
Watching the leaves turn to gold and red and then blanket the ground reminds me that God is the Creator and He loves beauty. Instead of creating a whole season, God could’ve made a system where we wake up one day and all the life is gone from the world.
Instead, He chooses to fill our world with color. It’s the season of gold leaves, orange pumpkins, and scarlet chrysanthemums. What a beautiful way to say goodbye to one season and hello to another!

11 Beautiful Fall Bible Verses
These autumn Scriptures show us the beauty of fall and the importance of the harvest season in our lives.
(All Scripture quotations are from the King James Version.)
Isaiah 40:8–The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
As leaves change and plants and flowers wither away for winter, we’re reminded that everything is temporary.
But the Word of God will stand forever. It has stood the test of time, and will continue to be a source of strength for those who read and trust it.
James 5:7–Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.
Waiting for the return of the Lord is like a farmer who waits each year for his harvest. We are excited, knowing that He’s coming back for us.
We wait patiently, never not knowing the exact day He’s coming, but we’re ready. We don’t just sit and twiddle our thumbs. Just like the farmer, Christians should be working to win souls to the Kingdom of God. We work and wait.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-2–To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
Life is made up of seasons, and autumn reminds us more than any other time of year. It’s always a little bit sad to see summer end, knowing that the cold days of winter are ahead.
But seasons are only here for a short time–they come and go. Some are happy, some are sad, but all work together for our good.
As Christians, we can have confidence in God that He works all things in His time.
Jeremiah 5:24–Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear the Lord our God, that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest.
Our God is all-powerful and in control of all things. Sometimes we question why things happen at a certain time or in a certain way.
But He always has a plan, and even nature follows His will. We can depend on the arrival of autumn every year because God said it would come. It has never failed to come and never will because He keeps His promises.
Matthew 9:37-38–Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
When Jesus saw the multitudes who came to Him to be healed, He saw more than sick, blind, or deaf people. He saw souls in need of salvation that only He could provide.
Even now, the world longs for someone to share the love of Christ with them. Jesus referred to these lost, lonely people a harvest that needs workers.
Those workers are you and I. The harvest is plenteous, and God calls us to go out and win them to the Lord.
Genesis 8:22–While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.
Have you ever considered that days, nights, summer, and winter have faithfully come right on time–forever? It’s a sign of God’s faithfulness, and His grand design.
After all, we know that on September 22, fall will begin. And it will continue until December, when winter comes.
We know this because God said it would be so, and He always keeps His promises. If fall or spring failed to come even one year, He would no longer be trustworthy. But seasons come, day turns into night, and we can trust Him.
Psalm 19:1–The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.
Nothing speaks more to the glory of God than the beauty of fall. The gorgeous leaves on the trees display His handiwork, and show His creativity.
God made everything in the world to bring glory to Him. If even the plants and sky praise Him, how much more should we?
Exodus 34:21–Six days thou shalt work, but on the seventh day thou shalt rest: in earing time and in harvest thou shalt rest.
Life is busy, but God designed our human bodies to need rest. After He created the world, He rested on the seventh day, and He wants us to rest, too.
The fall and winter seasons remind us of the importance of rest. Even though everything looks dead on the outside, it’s just dormant for a while. Under the ground, big, important things are happening.
God can work in our lives, too, when we take the opportunity to follow His plan of rest.
Galatians 6:9–And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
As a mom, this is one of my favorite Bible verses. It’s a reminder to me that I’m doing work for eternity.
Raising kids takes a long time, and it takes years to see the results of our hard work. But we can’t get weary and give up.
Just like the harvest season finally comes, we will finally reap the rewards that come from raising our kids. Keep working, keep praying, keep trusting. With God’s help you’ve got this, Mama!
Hebrews 13:8–Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
Seasons come and go, and they prove to us that life is ever-changing. We often don’t even realize it’s changing. Look back at your life five years ago. Chances are, it’s totally different now than it was then.
But one thing that never changes? Jesus. He stays the same no matter what our circumstances are.
Ecclesiastes 3:11–He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.
Just as we read in earlier verses, there is a time for everything. Every season isn’t beautiful, but God makes them all beautiful in His time.
Fall shows us that God makes beauty even in the mundane. He can take any situation and make it beautiful and use it to bring glory to Him.
Trust Him, no matter what you’re going through right now. He is working things out in His time.
