Do you feel like what you’re doing for God doesn’t matter? These Bible verses about doing everything for God will prove it’s important!

I was living my dream life every day, but something inside me cried out for more. The image I had built up in my mind didn’t quite measure up to the actual day-to-day of this life. And I was left feeling discouraged and underwhelmed.

29 Bible verses about doing your best for God

From the time I was a young girl, I always dreamed of being a mom. And I longed to stay at home with my kids. And then it happened. I was living every day in the life I always hoped and prayed I’d have; staying home with my two boys and eventually homeschooling them.

But something was missing. I was not happy. Being a mom didn’t offer me the fulfillment I always hoped it would. Instead, I was left feeling like I was missing out. Like I should be doing more.

By all outside appearances, I wasn’t doing anything to contribute to society–and even worse (in my mind) I was not contributing anything to God’s kingdom.

What I need was a HUGE mindset shift to change my perspective and show me what really matters–and what doesn’t.

It’s Not About Me

Many of us face situations in life when we feel like what we’re doing just doesn’t matter. Our hard work feels invisible. No matter how much time or effort we put into the jobs we’re doing, no one seems to notice.

We feel it especially when it comes to motherhood and homeschooling. The task of raising and homeschooling our kids goes on for years. And we often don’t see the fruits of our labors for a very, very long time.

When the days are long and hard, when we’ve struggled through fractions and sentence diagramming and rudimentary art projects, we just want someone to notice. Our hearts long for someone to say, “You did a good job.”

But chances are, no one is going to say it. Even when a loving husband takes the time to offer his appreciation, it still feels like it’s just not enough.

The truth is, God does not call us to do things to receive glory or gratitude for ourselves. Sure, those things are great, but are we willing to do good works for God’s glory, if no one ever notices?

The most important lesson to learn about serving in God’s kingdom is nothing is done for our own honor. When we learn the things we are doing, no matter how small or big, are for the glory of God, we will have a mindset shift that can change our attitudes and actions every day.

Called to Do Everything for God

When we think of God calling someone, our minds go to Samuel in the Old Testament. He heard the call of the Lord in the night and responded, “Speak thy servant heareth.” (1 Samuel 3:10)

Or, we think of Apostle Paul, who saw a great light on the Damascus road and heard God calling to him. He was (quite literally) blinded by the light and gave his life to God. (Acts 9)

But just because your calling is silent, doesn’t make it any less real. God calls all of His children to do something for Him. Just because you aren’t a pastor, missionary, or Sunday School teacher, your calling is no less valid.

Serving God as a mother in your home, and teaching your children biblical principles is just as important as preaching the Gospel from a pulpit. Maybe even more so.

When you feel like you’re just not doing enough, remember God sees every little thing, including the attitude behind the actions, and He will reward you accordingly.

How to Do Your Best for God

As Christians and mamas, we often ask ourselves, “How can I do my best for God?” This question may seem daunting, but with the guidance of God’s word, we can see it is not only possible but also incredibly fulfilling.

I’m not telling you God’s work is always easy. In fact, sometimes it’s really hard. But when we are doing our best for the Lord Jesus Christ, we have the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us. We can be diligent and not give up because we know He sees and rewards our efforts just as much as the final product.

The Bible is full of verses about doing everything for God, from Colossians 3:23-24, “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ,” to 1 Corinthians 10:31, “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”

These verses serve as simple reminders as we go about our daily lives that we should be striving to do our best for God. It may be simple actions like being kind to others or putting in our best effort at work, but when we do it with the intention of serving God, we can find true joy and purpose in our actions.

So let us remember in all we do, we can honor God and do our best for Him. And every good thing we do for the Lord brings the focus of our lives from ourselves to our Lord God.
