We tend to believe that being a strong woman of faith involves spending hours reading and Bible study on a daily basis. And while we all need these deep studies, they aren’t always a reality for busy moms.

That’s where Scripture writing comes in. Even though it takes only a few minutes out of every day, it’s a great way to cultivate a deeper relationship with God. If you don’t know where to start on your spiritual journey, or where to go next–try writing Scripture!

I like to spend a few minutes of my daily quiet time writing Scripture. This has become one of my favorite ways to spend time with the Lord.

I love when He speaks to me through His Word. A free Scripture writing plan is the perfect place to start your Scripture writing journey. Scripture writing challenges are the perfect way to learn all about a specific topic in the Bible.

What Exactly is Scripture Writing?

Scripture writing is a Bible study technique that involves physically writing out Bible passages by hand. This practice encourages you to slow down, focus on the words, and meditate on the message of the scriptures.

Research has shown that handwriting can help improve memory retention and deepen understanding, making Scripture writing a powerful tool for internalizing the Word of God.

When you take time to write Bible verses, you’ll be surprised how much of them you’ll memorize! God tells us to hide His Word in our hearts. When we do, the Holy Spirit can bring the verses we need when we need them.

When you’re facing hard times, or don’t know what to do, you might find yourself recalling Bible verses you never realized you knew!

What is the Purpose of a Scripture Writing Plan?

Reading God’s Word is powerful. But writing it takes it to a whole new level. It helps you understand the full meaning of each verse as you break it down. Something happens between your hand and your head.

It is just as simple as looking at the verse for that day of the month, finding it in your Bible, and writing it on a piece of paper. You can get fancy and use fancy paper or a Scripture writing journal. Or just grab a piece of regular printer paper or a notebook and write!

In our modern digital age, we often miss the benefits that come from putting pen to paper. Things that are written down become a part of us. And it’s special to go back and look at the things we’ve written in the past.

I’ve often looked back at my Scripture journals (I write dates in them) and see where God was working in my life. He led me to the Scriptures I needed when I needed them.

That’s the power of God’s Word in our lives.

It’s easier to memorize and meditate on the Word of God while you’re writing it. And it’s really simple. You don’t need any special tools, although some make it more fun! All you need is one of our monthly Scripture writing plans, a piece of white paper, and a pen.

Supplies to Use with Your Scripture Writing Plan

If you want to make your Scripture writing an enjoyable experience, you can add a few products. (Totally unnecessary, but fun.)

Of course, you can keep your Scripture writing as simple as possible. But it can also be a creative way to enjoy your favorite Bible passages with journaling or hand lettering. You might even find that you love creating Scripture art.

You can use regular white paper, or print on cardstock to make it more durable. The plan is easy to print using your home printer. (I love my HP printer with the HP instant ink program. It saves me so much stress and money!)

While it’s not necessary, a journaling Bible is also a great bonus to have for Scripture writing. I use this one from Kingfolk. Not only is it beautiful, it helps me dig deeper into God’s Word and take notes as I’m reading.

Remember, these extras are fun to have, but make sure you don’t miss the purpose of Scripture writing. It doesn’t matter how plain or fancy it is, as long as you’re learning God’s Word and deepening your faith!
