5 Women’s Bible Study Tips to Make God’s Word a Priority
People always say, “Make Bible study a priority.” But what does that mean? How can a mom who’s already swamped by her to-do list, make one more thing a priority?
Let’s be real—most of us want to spend more time in the Bible. We know it’s essential for our faith, our peace, and our daily walk with the Lord.

But between the never-ending piles of laundry, kids who always seem to need a snack, and the general busyness of life, finding time for Bible study can feel like an uphill battle.
Sometimes, it feels like I need to add an extra hour to my day in order to find the time to do it all. And even though I want Bible reading to be a daily habit, it’s easier said, than done!
If you’ve ever struggled to stay consistent, you’re not alone! That’s why I’m sharing five practical Bible study tips for women to help you make Scripture a priority—without guilt or overwhelm.
Whether you have five minutes or fifty, these simple strategies will help you stay rooted in God’s Word, even in the busiest seasons. Let’s get started!
Where to Get Started in the Bible for Women
The Bible is God’s gift to us. Every verse was put there for a reason. They are all important and useful in different aspects of life.
But there are a few that stand out because they offer strength, wisdom, hope, and encouragement.
God’s Word is full of promises, and as women, we can cling to those in hard times. The Bible also has stories of women whose lives are examples for use–both good and bad.
There is no right or wrong place to start reading the Bible for beginners. But there are some passages that are easier to understand than others.
The tips here will help you decide where and how you can start reading the Bible for yourself.

The Great Bible Study Lie
Before we dig into the women’s Bible study tips, let me share this. Reading your Bible is not meant to be a chore. God wants to spend time with you each day, and He uses His Word to speak to your heart.
Satan knows that women find strength and courage in God–and he hates that! He will do whatever he can to keep us from being faithful in Bible reading and prayer.
Your enemy will try to convince you that the Bible is too hard to understand. Or, that it takes too long to read. He’ll try to distract you, or tell you that you don’t have enough time.
All because he knows that a woman who spends time with Jesus every day is a threat to him. It’s harder for Satan to deceive her, trick her and cause her to doubt.
That’s why it’s vital for us to stand up to his wiles! We can be strong women of God by building a daily Bible study habit that grows our faith and confidence in the Lord.
5 Bible Study Tips for Women
Bible study is a personal thing. And we might not all do it exactly the same. But that’s ok! We serve the same God, but He chooses to use each of differently.
Use these tips as a jumping-off point to start your own personal Bible study as you learn more about the Savior.
1. Start small and be consistent.
Have you ever tried to learn a new hobby? I’ve been making quilts for over fifteen years. And I always laugh when people ask me about my first one.
Because I never finished it. I kept it in a storage tote for a long time, but finally threw it away. It was awful.
I’ve made nearly 40 successful and beautiful quilts since then. Over time, as I’ve grown my skills, my quilts have improved.
The same is true for learning to study your Bible. You won’t sit down on day one and suddenly understand all the mysteries of God’s Word.
Over time, though, you’ll build skills, and it’ll get easier and better. You don’t need an hour-long study session to grow in God’s Word.
Begin with just five minutes a day, focusing on a few verses or a short devotional. As you get more confidence, you’ll want to read and study more.
Consistency is the key to building this habit–even if it seems like you aren’t making much progress at first.
2. Pair Bible reading with a daily habit.
I bet if you take a minute to think about your days, you have a few daily habits and routines that you always follow.
Maybe you get out of bed and step into the shower. You might be one of those motivated people who jumps into a workout as soon as they get up.
Or, maybe you’re like me and stumble out of bed with your feet turned toward the coffee pot. No matter which person you are, you have a general plan that guides your days.
Is there a natural place you can fit in your Bible reading? For me, it’s in the morning while I sip my first cup of coffee. It’s easy for me to reach for my phone and scroll social media or check email.
But using that time to focus on starting my day with the Bible helps me face my day with confidence.
Try linking your Bible study to something you already do, like morning coffee, lunchtime, or bedtime. Keeping your Bible open on the kitchen counter or setting a reminder on your phone can help make it a natural part of your routine.
I like to set my Bible study basket and Bible on the coffee table at night, so it’s ready to go first thing. If I forget, I gather it up while my coffee is brewing.
I’ve done this for so long, it’s a habit to sit down with my coffee, Bible, and Scripture writing plan.
3. Use a simple study method.
The Bible is so big that reading it can seem overwhelming. The good news is, you don’t have to read the whole thing at once!
Choosing a simple study method can help you make the most of even a short amount of time to glean wisdom from God.
Try an easy approach like the SOAP method, or verse mapping to go deeper without feeling overwhelmed. Keeping a journal handy can also help with reflection.
My personal favorite is topical Scripture writing, because it helps me focus on areas where I need to grow or learn more.

4. Keep God’s Word accessible
It’s so much easier to make wise decisions when the best choice is the easiest. It’s why we often buy less-than-healthy convenience foods rather than making the healthier options at home.
Keep a Bible in places you spend time, like your nightstand, car, or diaper bag. Use the Dwell Bible App or listen to an audio Bible while driving, cooking, or doing chores to stay in the Word even on busy days.
If it’s easier to grab your Bible than your phone (or, if your Bible is on your phone!), you’re more likely to pick it up. Listen to it while you take a relaxing walk or burn calories on the elliptical.
5. Find accountability.
Chances are, if you want to be more consistent in Bible reading and prayer, someone else you know does, too. Reach out to see if there’s someone in your friend group wants to be accountability buddies.
Join a women’s Bible study group, text a friend for check-ins, or involve your kids in reading Scripture together. Accountability can help you stay committed and make Bible study a more intentional part of your life.
While social media can sometimes keep us from finding time for Bible study, it can also be a great way to connect with like-minded women. You can read through a chapter or book of the Bible together.
Use an app, like Voxer, to talk about what you’re reading. Or, use FaceTime to meet once a week (or a month, if that’s what you have time for!), and discuss the study.
