15 Awesome Board Games for 6-Year-Olds (and up!)

From classics like Monopoly to new games like Rapid Rumble, here are 15 board games for 6-year-olds that are perfect for the whole family!

Although it makes me sound like an old person, sometimes I tell my boys that we didn’t have tablets, SmartPhones, or Nintendo Switch when I was a kid.

And when they’re done asking me if we had cars way back in the 1990s, I tell them what we did do for fun. We played board games!

Playing board games can be challenging when you have little kids, but I’ve found that it’s a lot easier once they learn basic reading skills. Of course, there are games they can play when they’re younger, but I think the most fun board games are for kids around 6 years old and up.

We’ve been playing a lot of awesome board games at our house lately, and here are a few of our favorites, plus some new ones we want to try.

Classic Connect 4 was one of my favorite games growing up! This new version meets a new challenge with the addition of blue blocker discs in this unique twist on the classic strategy game.

Kids will love using yes or no questions to guess each other’s mystery characters in this fun guessing game.

Trouble

The Trouble board game is loads of fun for kids ages 5 and up! You only need 2 players to play, so it’s a fun and easy alternative to screen time during play dates or after school.

Jenga

Jenga is the perfect game for families and kids 6 and up–and I think it’s an especially fun game for boys! The object of the game is to pull out a block and place it on top of the tower without letting the whole thing come tumbling down.

The original wood block game, Jenga is a great way to engage kids in some friendly competition. The game comes with 54 wood blocks and a stacking sleeve to help players build the tower. When it’s time to clean up, simply put everything back in the tube-shaped package with the handle for easy carrying.
