Book Review: The Clutter Fix by Shannon Acheson

Of all the hundreds (maybe thousands) of decluttering and organizing books on the market, why should you choose to read The Clutter Fix by Shannon Acheson? As a person who has read my fair share of books that promise to give me the neatly organized, clutter-free home of my dreams, I’ll tell you why!

If you were to come into my house, you probably wouldn’t think it was cluttered. But to me, it does feel cluttered! (And I probably did a quick tidy before you came over.)

For a while, I thought I could pursue a minimalist lifestyle, but I’ve realized that’s just not for me. Instead, I need a solid plan to organize my stuff to save my sanity and keep my home feeling neat.

The Clutter Fix Review

I am already a huge fan of Shannon Acheson. I loved her first book, Home Made Lovely, and I was very excited to see she was releasing a new book.

The Clutter Fix is a handbook for decluttering your home from top to bottom, plus it includes tips to help you maintain it. I have read so many books recently about decluttering for minimalism. And I found it totally overwhelming.

Shannon’s book is totally different. She tells you upfront that she’s not a minimalist. And you don’t have to be minimalist to be organized.

My favorite part of The Clutter Fix is finding your Organizing Personality. I found out I’m an NO/SO, and it completely changed the way I see decluttering and organizing.

I also love Shannon’s tips for helping your family get onboard. As she mentions, your family all knows where to put away a fork, so they can learn where to put away their other things, too.

Another favorite part of the book for me is that she gives three different decluttering plans. None of us are the same, and our lifestyles and schedules are all different, too. For me, I’m excited to tackle the 30-Day Decluttering Plan, as it fits my life right now.

Recommendation

The Clutter Fix is written from a Christian viewpoint. It offers plenty of practical tips and a solid decluttering plan. But it also gives Biblical principles and encouragement for decluttering.

While I think non-Christians could use and enjoy reading The Clutter Fix, it’s a must-read for Christian wives and homemakers. You really can declutter your home, organize your stuff, and live a contented life that’s full of gratitude for what you have.
