57 Heartfelt Bible Verses for Your Homeschool

When you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed with your homeschool, God’s Word offers these encouraging homeschool Bible verses to give you strength and wisdom!

I thought every other homeschooling mama had it all together. I would see their beautiful stories on Instagram, overlaid with the perfect vintage filter, and think, “I am missing something here.”

What was I doing wrong that my homeschool days often looked like a three-ring circus instead of a peaceful, happy environment where children loved learning?

Over time, I began to grow closer to some homeschool mom friends. And I found out pretty quickly that none of us really have it all together all of the time. Some days are great, and we feel like we’re at the top of the world.

Other days are terrible and we’re ready to throw in the towel and start googling military schools out-of-state. (I’m kidding, but just barely.)

Homeschooling our kids is not a job we can do on our own. Nor are we meant to.

God called us to homeschool our kids for His glory, and to give them a quality education while teaching them God’s truth. Thankfully, He didn’t ask us to do it on our own. The Word of God offers all the help and instruction we need to raise children with Biblical principles.

Homeschooling Moms Need the Bible

Being a homeschooling mom is not for the faint of heart. But not for the reasons non-homeschoolers might think.

The biggest struggles of a homeschooling journey are not the curriculum choices, getting kids to sit still for lessons, or the ever-popular “socialization” issue.

Although all of those factors do come into play, the main struggle we face is a spiritual one. We want our kids to learn more than reading, writing, and math. We even want them to know more than the periodic table of elements, the names of the presidents, and how to speak Latin.

Raising our kids to follow the way of the Lord matters the most. It is important to instill in them good morals, and show them the way of eternal life.

Taking control of your child’s education from the public school system is a difficult undertaking. But remember, you are doing great work for the Lord. The Holy Spirit will be with you to lead and guide you through your daily prayer and Bible reading to lead your kids in the right way.

Favorite Bible Verses for a Homeschool Mama

One thing I know after a few years of homeschooling is this: I don’t know everything. Thankfully, I know Someone Who does know everything, and He willingly shares His wisdom with me in God’s Word.

I’ve listed 57 great Bible verses below that offer hope and encouragement to your homeschool heart. I’ve turned to some of these over and over again on my journey. But here are a few that I’ve found especially helpful as I’m teaching the next generation of strong, Christian men

James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

God has everything we need to know–and it’s more than the wisdom of this world. When I find myself wondering what I should do, how I should respond, or the best plan moving forward, I can ask my Heavenly Father.

When we need wisdom in any situation, the Bible has the answer and God will give it to us, if we only ask Him. He won’t hold back when we ask.

Galatians 6:9–And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

“You don’t reap the fruit the day you sow the seed.” This is true in gardening and homeschool. Homeschooling is a long game. We have to put in the work day after day and year after year. But when we continue to work, to sow the seed, we will reap the results one day.

It might be when reading suddenly clicks for your first-grader or your 10-year-old finally figures out fractions. Or, it might not come fully until your final student turns 18 and graduates for good. But God promised you, Mama, you will reap the benefits of your hard work, but only if you don’t give up.

1 Thessalonians 5:24–Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

How amazing is our Heavenly Father? God calls us to homeschool our kids and we respond, “Lord, I just don’t think I can.”

He answers, “I know, but I will help you.”

He doesn’t call us to do a task, then leave us alone, and is faithful to help us every single step of the way. We can always depend on Him in every part of life.

Put It Into Practice

Homeschooling your kids takes courage, patience, and more than a little coffee. (Or tea, if that’s your thing!) But more than that, it takes spending time in God’s Word every day. Letting Him fill all those empty, lacking places in your heart.

In her book, The Convivial Homeschool, Mystie Winckler says, “The courage we need can only come from looking to Christ.”

We get that courage from allowing Him into our daily lives. All those moms who I thought had it all together? They didn’t. And I don’t.

But what I do have, is the love of God pouring into my heart, so I can pour it out to my kids.

He gave us these beautiful Scriptures, so we can know we’re not alone, but He is with us every step of the way! Dive deep, Mama, and receive encouragement directly from your Heavenly Father as you homeschool your kids!
