Best Inspirational Books for Moms
When you’re looking for a little encouragement in life, nothing works quite as well as a good book! I love reading a book that really lifts me up and offers hope in my life. There are a lot of great books out there, and it’s hard to narrow them down. Here is a list of my favorite inspirational books for moms.
No matter what holiday, birthday or special event is happening next, books are always a perfect gift. And, if you get just the right one, they show a lot of care and thought.
Beyond holidays, books are great for just about anything that happens in life. Give one to a new mom who needs encouragement, or a grandmother whose family has moved away.
Books are great for moms who are feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or discouraged. Sometimes a book can say the words you don’t know how to say.
Whether you’re shopping for your own mom, daughter, sister, grandmother, or another special mom in your life, (or even for some encouragement for yourself!) you’ll find the perfect read on this list.
And, if you’ve waited until the very last minute, or feel like you need some hope NOW, all of these books are available for Kindle! You can purchase and receive them immediately. (You can also purchase Kindle books as gifts.)

Boy Mom by Monica Swanson
Obviously, Boy Mom may not be a book for everyone! But I found so much encouragement on these pages. Monica is mom to four boys, so she understand all that we go through when we have sons.
Honestly, I think we struggle to relate to boys, since we are wired so differently from them. It was so great to read words of wisdom from someone who’s been there.
Monica’s oldest two sons are in college, but she also has one who is around nine or ten years old. So, whatever you’re dealing with, she can probably relate.
Boy Mom will help you when it comes to encouraging your boys spiritually, but also give you solid advice for dealing with things like screen time, friends and hygiene.

Triggers by Amber Lia and Wendy Speake
Okay, I will say that Triggers may be a book best purchased for yourself or a very close friend! None of us wants to admit that we struggle with anger issues or losing our tempers.
But, it happens.
As I read the first few pages of this book, I was shocked by a feeling of “me too.” Sometimes I feel like I am such a failure as a mom, and that I’m the only one who faces these struggles.
But the truth is, most of us probably wish we didn’t get so angry. Many of us would like to have a calm approach to parenting that gets results.
In Triggers, Amber and Wendy help moms see how to exchange those angry reactions for Biblical responses. After all, we can’t change our kids–no matter how hard we try.
We can change our attitudes and actions. And those changes will probably effect them more than any action we could force.

Memory Making Mom by Jessica Smartt
None of us needs to be reminded that life is slipping by so quickly. We can see it every day. We wish we knew how to stretch every moment and make it last.
We can’t add any extra time to our days, or keep our kids little any longer. We can make memories out of every day that we have.
In Memory Making Mom Jessica gives so many ideas for making moments matter. I love that she presents her ideas without making the reader feel guilty.
There is no “you should be doing this,” accusation in her tone. Instead, as I read the pages I feel like, “oh, yea, I can do that!”
As I read I remembered some of the great times I had as a child. I want to build memories like that for my kids, too.
Memories like vacations are fun. But if you don’t have a lot of money, Jessica gives ideas for simple things you can do, too. Some don’t cost much, or are free.
This is a great book to read if your kids are younger. You can start your own traditions now. But if they’re older, there are still a lot of ideas to make memories with them while you still have them home.

Midnight Mom Devotional by Becky Thompson and Susan K. Pitts
I love this beautiful little book! Every day has an entry that is a short prayer for a mama.
It may be a pray you pray for yourself. It may be a prayer you pray for a friend. Or you may not know anyone who fits that particular prayer and you pray for someone out there who needs it.
This book is a gently awakening to those around us who have needs. It reminds us that we are not the center of the universe.
Even if I am struggling through a particular hard time, someone else is going through something different. And it’s just as hard for her.
I love that this book has a place each day to write in the name of the person you thought of and prayed for. You may even feel led to let that person know you prayed for them.
As a mom you’re busy. Often you go to bed long after the rest of the family, and get up long before. But taking just a few minutes to add these prayers to your day can make all the difference for you and others.

Introverted Mom by Jamie C. Martin
We live in a world that is built for extroverts to thrive. So if you’re an introvert, you may feel lost, and struggle to find where you fit.
I personally struggled for a long time. I would feel guilty when large gatherings exhausted me. I did things that I didn’t enjoy or that physically or mentally drained me, because I thought that’s what I was supposed to do.
It took a long time for me to realize I’m just wired differently.
Reading Introverted Mom really helped me come to terms with a lot of things in my life. I started to understand more about myself. I learned not to beat myself up if I just have to leave an event early because I just can’t take the chatter anymore.
I love that Jamie discusses introverts and our unique contributions to the world through the lens of books–one of my very favorite things!
She discusses four women authors who were themselves introverts: Laura Ingalls Wilder, L. M. Montgomery, Jane Austen and Louisa May Alcott.
Think of these four introverts and their contributions to the world, and may feel better about yourself and your personality, too!
