If you’re a mom of boys, you’re probably familiar with both Lego and Batman. You may or may not know that The Dark Knight has his very own Lego movie franchise.

The first movie is The Lego Batman Movie. It’s a cartoon, so it’s made for kids, but it’s also fun for parents. Here’s all you need to know about The Lego Batman Movie and if it’s worth watching with your family.

Before I dig into this movie review, I need to be upfront and tell you The Lego Batman Movie is my son’s favorite movie. He has it downloaded on his Kindle Fire and watches it on repeat.

And I do mean repeat. He has his favorite parts that he rewinds and watches over and over and over. Sometimes we have to tell him to stop and let the movie go on.

I have only watched it from beginning to end a couple of times, but I have heard it play at least a hundred.

I’m usually not a fan of letting my kids watch things without me. But this movie is really good and has nothing that I find offensive. Since all of the characters, scenery, and props are made of Lego, there’s no violence and zero gore.

The Joker character and Two Face, are both in this movie, so sensitive kids might find them disturbing. But again, they’re Lego characters, so it’s not too bad.

The Lego Batman Movie Cast of Characters

This movie has an all-star cast of some of Hollywood’s best actors.

Main characters in this movie include:

  • Will Arnett–Batman
  • Rosario Dawson–Barbara Gordon
  • Zach Galifianakis–Joker
  • Michael Cera–Dick Grayson/Robin
  • Ralph Fiennes–Alfred Pennyworth
  • Jenny Slate–Harley Quinn
  • Héctor Elizondo–Commissioner Gordon
  • Ellie Kemper–Phyllis
  • Mariah Carey–Mayor McCaskill
  • Channing Tatum–Superman
  • Jonah Hill–Green Lantern

I love the voice of Will Arnett as Batman in this movie. He delivers every line with the perfect amount of sarcasm and dry wit.

The Lego Batman Movie Summary

Ever wondered what happens when the dark, brooding Batman from Gotham City meets the cheeky, colorful world of Lego? In “The Lego Batman Movie,” we find our caped crusader in a hilarious yet heartfelt adventure, perfect for a family movie night.

Batman is busy protecting Gotham City from his arch-enemy, the Joker. However, after Batman tells the Joker he’s not that important to him, the Joker plots a grand revenge.

Enter Bruce Wayne, Batman’s alter ego, who attends a winter gala celebrating Police Commissioner Gordon’s retirement.

He’s smitten by Gordon’s daughter, Barbara, but distractedly ends up adopting an eager teenage orphan named Dick Grayson.

Soon, Barbara announces her plan to restructure the police force, sidelining Batman from doing his lone vigilante thing. The Joker seizes this moment to crash the party and voluntarily turns himself in to the police.

Suddenly, Batman has no villains to fight—except for Harley Quinn, who’s still at large.

Batman suspects the Joker has a hidden agenda. He plans to steal Superman’s Phantom Zone projector to banish the Joker but is stopped by his loyal butler Alfred.

Instead, Batman enlists the help of his new son, Dick, who becomes Robin. Together, they manage to send the Lego Joker to the Phantom Zone, where he recruits a host of dangerous villains and returns to Gotham City.

As Gotham faces this new threat, Batman and his team—now including his sidekick, Robin, and Barbara as Batgirl—must unite to save the city. Along the way, Batman learns the importance of teamwork and family, overcoming his fear of losing loved ones again.

Movie Conclusion

In a thrilling climax, Batman convinces the Joker that they need each other, leading to a heartwarming team effort where heroes, villains, and civilians come together to save Gotham from destruction and Joker’s hostile takeover.

The film wraps up with Batman accepting his new family and continuing his vigilante adventures with a little more heart.

Perfect for a light-hearted evening, “The Lego Batman Movie” delivers laughs, action, and a touching message about family and teamwork. Over the course of the movie, Batman takes a pretty hard look at his life and learns that no one can do everything alone.

Enjoy this delightful film with your kids and witness Batman like never before!

Why This is a Great Family Movie

My family are huge fans of both Lego and the Caped Crusader. This big-screen adventure is one of our favorite movies.

It is a classic story with good guys and tons of bad guys, and the good guys win in the end. You’ll find all of the usual suspects, including Joker, Harley Quinn, Cat Woman, Two-Face, Mr. Freeze, Clay Face, Poison Ivy, Penguin, and more.

Even with all the villains, there’s an irreverent spirit of fun and unexpected moments of humor.

It’s funny and clean–with only a little potty humor. Kids love the movie because of the iconic characters, and the fact that it’s Lego.

But it’s great for parents, too. There are some really funny quotes that go over kids’ heads but will have adults laughing–or at least rolling our eyes. I always get a laugh when Alfred flashes back to a strange scene from classic Batman in the 60s.

And believe it or not, there is a powerful message behind all of the nonstop action of this movie. We see Bruce Wayne/Batman learn an important lesson about being part of a family, friendship, and coming together to solve problems.

The Lego Batman Movie is a beautiful blend of heartfelt themes. Kids learn the importance of family and teamwork, wrapped up in a package that’s both entertaining and educational.

As you laugh at the funny quotes and enjoy the action-packed scenes, you might catch the deeper messages that make this movie a must-watch for families everywhere.
