Book Review: To Love a Prince by Rachel Hauck
There’s nothing like starting a brand new book by a favorite author. You know it’s going to be good. You know you’re going to love it. And you know you’ll end it feeling happy and satisfied. That was exactly my experience with Rachel Hauck’s newest release, To Love a Prince.
I love all of Rachel’s royal romances. Whenever I tell people about them (which is often!) I say they’re like reading fairy tales for adults. And what’s more fun than that?

Summary
Daffodil Caron grew up in the palace, playing with the princes. Until one day when she overheard a royal secret and was banished by the queen.
Since then, Daffy has watched from afar as Prince Gus of Lauchtenland faced humiliation and heartbreak. He was abandoned by two fiancés–one just moments before she was to walk down the aisle.
Gus’ self-confidence has faltered, but Daffy’s faith in him has never wavered. But she knows that their lives are separate now, and she’ll never live out her childhood dream of marrying the prince.
Gus has been in hiding for a year as he recovered his equilibrium and rediscovered who he was. Daffy is shocked when she (literally) runs into him on a Florida beach.
When Gus is exposed by the media, he has no choice but to return to Lauchtenland and take over his royal duties. But soon his path will cross with Daffy again.
They are drawn together through a repair project. Even though each has deep feelings for the other, there are many obstacles in their way–including the queen and a fiancé!
But with a little help from some mysterious strangers, they just might find their way together after all!
To Love a Prince Review
I’ve already told you that I loved this book. But I guess I should break it down and tell you exactly why!
First, I love the characters. Daffy and Gus were so perfect for each other. Each of them believed in the other.
Daffy knew that Gus was worthy of love, even when he didn’t believe it. Gus knew that Daffy was worthy of a great relationship, even when she was willing to accept one that was just okay.
I loved Daffy’s loyalty to the queen. But even though Daffy kept the queen’s secret, she was no weakling!
She stood up for things that were right, including standing up for Gus to her friends. But she also stood up to Gus when he was messing up, too. (A certain chair comes to mind!)
I love, love, love the descriptions of the wedding gowns in the book. It’s so much fun to read them and really imagine them. My favorite, of course, was the blue gown from the cover. It gets all the heart eyes from me!
I love how Rachel mixes the real world with the imaginary one. Her characters fly from real beaches in Florida, to the imaginary Lauchtenland–which for some reason makes me think of Scotland.
It’s always amazing to me how Rachel spins these imaginary countries. I only hate that I can’t ever visit them! (Given the choice, it would be Brighton Kingdom for me!)
Maybe the best part of Rachel’s books is the bit of Divine intervention in each one. What an amazing thought that the God of Heaven cares so much about us that He sends us help to make the right choices when we need it!
Overall, To Love a Prince is high on my Hauck favorites list. (But the top spots belong to A Royal Christmas Wedding and The Memory House with The Fifth Avenue Story Society at a close third!) I can’t wait to read more in this series.
I absolutely loved To Love a Prince. Give it a read, and I really think you’ll love it, too!
